Significance of International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression


Do you remember those days when you used to be carefree and happy without any worries or pressure of success in future? But many children around the world are still suffering from the abuse, mentally as well as physically. Today we will shed some light on the day UN’s observance International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression:

– Every year on 4th June International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression is celebrated all around the world. It is originally focused on victims of the 1982 Lebanon War, to acknowledge the pain suffered by children throughout the world who are the victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse. The UN observes this day to protect the rights of children all over the world.

– According to the studies 536 million children live in countries affected by conflict or disasters. About 50 million children have been displaced from their homes. When these children get displaced, it increases their vulnerability to violence and exploitation. Emotional, physical, sexual, and mental abuse is a reality for millions of children throughout the world. Approximately 200 million children a year are victims of sexual violence every year.

Countries where children are the least safe include:

Pakistan, Egypt, Vietnam, China, Argentina, Russia etc.

– This year’s UN’s Sustainable Development Goal promotes peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development. As part of this goal, the UN hopes to put an end to abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and all forms of violence against children by 2030.
